PostSubject: Core or no core?   Sat Jun 05, 2010 3:40 am

I see this debate a lot... about how anything -core suck donkey testicles because it has breakdown and blahblahblahinsertbullshithere.

I wanna know what some people here think. Core or no core? Personally I love breakdowns. They have the kind of groove a straight blast doesn't, and they just make me want to headbang until I hurt myself.

There are a lot of good core genres. Deathcore, metalcore...okay, I lied. Those are the only two I really pay attention too xD

I really love some core bands. A huge reason you have people saying that core sucks is because you have scene pussy bands like BFMV, Ax7 and a bunch of others trying to be hardcore, when in fact they are emo bitches. But I mean I enjoy As I lay Dying, Job For a Cowboy, All That Remains to name a few.

As for the breakdowns, personally I love breakdowns, but not all the time.

I like 'Scream Aim Fire' era BFMV, honestly. and a song or two off their new album. But I see where you're coming from. There's no point arguing with you over A7X cause they do try too hard. I just like the music xD (M. Shadows looks like a douchebag among men)

AILD, Job, ATR. Sick bands. and I love all three. Other good death and metalcore bands? Carnifex, Killswitch Engage, Sky Came Burning, Chimaira, etc.

Breakdowns are good, if there's not too many of them in a single song. Unless the whole song is a breakdown. Some of those are pretty sick.

I may be the biggest hater towards A7X lol I really can't stand them or the music.

As for Killswitch it's a love hate thing for them with me. and the rest of the bands you listed I can't get into either.

Not all core is bad.
Look at Whitechapel, one of the heaviest bands I've ever heard and they're deathcore.

Grindcore is another good exam, it gives you lots of energy.

I hate it when you get people who have no idea what they're doing.

PostSubject: Re: Core or no core?   Mon Jun 07, 2010 12:18 pm

I'm sorry, but when I see a topic like this, I have to post my opinion. Prepare for the shitstorm, this post may just make everyone hate me.

I. HATE. Like not just hate, like ultra HATE. Like, hate to the point where writing hate in capitals isn't enough to get the point accross. Metal/Deathcore.

WARNING: OPINION
I'm not gonna say the music is bad, because I believe that no music is bad, it's all just opinion. Except maybe Justin Bieber. That is in fact, bad. Anyway, I believe that these "core" genres are putting a terrible name to the culture of metal that has been built for the past 30 years. Essentially, metal, is an underground genre. It always has been, criticised, hated, taboo, etc. But these "core" bands, are giving us actual metalheads a bad name. Cause you got all these emo faggots going around, listening to killswitch engage, and blowjob for a cowboy (no offence to anyone who listens to them) saying they're metal. True metal. The most br00tal cvlt underground stuff there is. And you can't argue it with them. They just won't open their mind (may seem ironic that i'm the one saying that lol). But I wouldn't mind it, if people didn't THINK that this was metal. It gives us a band name. I don't want to be grouped with these douchebags. I'm embarrassed to be around them. It's like the cross dressing, hairspray glam metallers of the 80's. Or the nu-metal of the 90's. It's just another fad, that's going to die out, while real metal, will live on, like always, in the underground.

tl;dr: I don't wanna be grouped with cross dressing tight pantsed, emos, listening to emo music, that thinks it's metal.

Sorry if I offended anyone with that, but that's my opinion, and at no point contains any actual fact lol. Thank you for your time.

While you're entitled to your opinion (Thank you for actually posting on the site, by the way Razz) Metalcore and deathcore ARE still technically metal. The people that run around doing what you just said, are douchfags that give the real metalheads bad name. But there's always people like that in every genre of music. You can't really hold it against the genres (death/metalcore) because it probably wasn't their aim to "lessen" then name of metal with their stupid fans. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking bands like Killswitch, Chimaira, or Job as long as you listen to the underground stuff too and know where your roots are.

Not really a fan of the core. I recently traded in all my shit cd's which I had quite a few from friends and other sources for Sepultura's Bestial Devistation and Morbid Visions

Sepultura, are legends. I can understand why you'd trade in CDs for a couple of theirs. But what don't you like about the core genres?
